Here are some more regions where you can find deep coverage in our files. This includes the Mountains of the Virginias (about which Jim has written a guide book, and Great Britain (Jim wrote a column for British Heritage magazine). Here Jim comments on a few samples.

The Mountains of the Virginias

As I write The Shenandoah Valley and the Mountains of the Virginias for Countryman Press, I am assembling a large and varied collection of images, and learning every corner of this increasingly popular region.

These mountain farms on the crest of the Blue Ridge in Patrick County, VA, are growing hay and cabbages. The unfenced highway in the background is the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Great Britain

Red phone boxes still dot the British landscape; this box sits in the center of the Scottish highlands village of Cromarty. My assignments for British Heritage Magazine have led me to every corner of the island.
Alton Priors. Thatched self-catering cottage beneath downs; Walker Hill White Horse in bkgd. Near the southern end of the Ridgeway. Location: ENG, Wiltshire , The Vale of Pewsey, Pewsey Area, The Altons. [ref. to #197.009]

Scenes like this Wiltshire landscape still exist casually, as common landscapes rather than as museum pieces. This view stretches from the thatched cottages of Alton Barnes up to the chalk downs that line the Vale of Pewsey, and includes one of Wiltshire's famous white horse carvings -- this one made by a local squire some 250 years ago.

Florida

Eighteen years living in Tampa allowed me to accumulate a good portfolio of images of the Tampa Bay area, and I add to it every year. I have coverage of other areas of Florida as well — particularly St. Augustine. This odd building, the result of late 19th century tourist speculation, typifies the sort of thing I love about Florida.

I also have a good portfolio of Florida wilderness pictures. Being specialized in this area, I know where and when to shoot, and so can get you great shots even in summer's dead, humid air -- as with this sunrise photo of a snowy egret on Tampa Bay, shot from an interstate rest area.

The West

I love shooting up the Old West, and will take any excuse to go there. My specialty area is the Northern Rockies, from Colorado to Alberta.

My dual western themes are the Rocky Mountains, and the old western towns and mines that dot them. This 1870 church bell is in the old mining town of Silver Plume, Colorado.
