The Blue Ridge Parkway

It started in 1931 as a work relief project — but its first superintendent, the great landscape architect Stanley Abbott, turned The Blue Ridge Parkway into a 465 mile drive through an artfully landscaped English garden. Following the parkway's system of mileposts, these images are organized north to south.
