Obtain a License to Use an Image

HarganOnline is the exclusive supplier of all images in all of the 90 Minutes FromSM websites. All images are copyrighted by the photographer, Jim Hargan, all rights are reserved, and all copyrights are registered.

And, of course, all images are available for licensing. This means that, if you wish to use an image you see in 90 Minutes FromSM or on HarganOnline.comSM, you need to purchase a usage license. If you want only a limited use, this license will be inexpensive; if you want to expand the circumstances under which you may use the image, you pay extra.

How much will it cost? We follow Cradoc Bradshaw's FotoQuote guidelines in all our pricing. If you are serious about purchasing image rights for re-use, we strongly suggest you purchase this excellent tool.

Here's a few technical details about our images: All images are available up to a native resolution of 11" by 17" at 300 dpi, with no up-ressing and no sharpening. Images are compressed with Photoshop at level 11, and full caption information is included in the IPTC metadata. Our digital images have appeared on book covers, as well as interior use in magazines, newspapers, books, coffee table books, and textbooks.

What about the maps? HarganOnline drafts all the maps using deLorme's excellent XMap product, tracing data from public domain U.S. Geological Survey maps and using its own symbol set. For this reason, HarganOnline owns the copyrights, and makes the maps available for license. Unlike the photos, however, their usage is restricted by the deLorme license; essentially, printing a map in a paper publication is prohibited by the terms of the deLorme license. If you wish, HarganOnline can draft maps for your website as well.
