When I photograph a region, I pursue four basic themes. The natural look of the land is, of course, a platform upon which all else must be based; so that scenic photography is important to me. What men and women do to these natural landscapes, however, is more interesting and fun. This leads me to emphasize human landscapes — photographs that show the ways that people mold the the land around them. Those people are interesting and important in and of themselves, so I take photographs of people in their environments. Finally, to complete the protrait of a region, I photograph interior spaces using natural light.
